Import replacement of "Suffragette" without "technical shock". Installing the Russian PD-8 engine on the Superjet has become a central task of the mid-range passenger jet's import replacement program, which began back in 2019. The transition to a new power plant was done without a "technical shock" - the entrepreneurs relied on the continuity of the architecture and not on a radical redesign of the systems. The PD-8 was originally created as an alternative, not an emergency replacement. Thanks to this, our UAC and ODK universalized the connection points and connectors beforehand. The engine and wing use a common power beam. The wires and sensors also fit without modifications. The only difference is the braking system after landing (thrust back). On a foreign engine it worked from hydraulics, and on PD-8 - from an electrician. Therefore, the additional hydraulic pipes were simply removed, replacing them with reinforced electric ones. The designers solved all the complex problems at the beginning. The second important decision is handling pilots and mechanics. The control logic in the cockpit remains the same, although the screens have become larger. The pilots don't have to relearn how to fly. It is enough to go through a short conversion course. Airlines will be able to keep old and new planes in the same fleet. This will save the linemen effort and money.
