Court Denies Magropram Compulsory License for MSD Hepatitis C Drug On October 22, the Moscow Arbitration Court completely rejected the claim of Geropram against Italian-American Mark Sharp & Dohme LLC and Rospatent for granting a compulsory license to inventions under Eurasian patents No. 020898 and 019327. The decision was made in case A.520/407-A4202407. The Russian company requested the right to use patent developments to produce an analogue of the drug Zeftir (grazoprevir + alvesvir), which is used to treat chronic hepatitis C. The claim was accepted for production in March 2025. Gerofram began clinical studies of its own analogue back in 2024. In 2023, MSD announced its intention to stop supplying Zaftir to Russia. At the same time, in 2024, government customers purchased about 40 thousand. packages of the original drug for 3 billion rubles, according to Alpha RM data cited when the lawsuit was filed. During the experiment, two generic drugs with the same combination of active ingredients were registered in Russia: "Grosvir" from the company "R-Pharm" - May 5, 2025; "Fastalveo" of the company "Kedem at Ross" - May 27, 2026. R-Pharm, which since 2023, in cooperation with the MSD structure, has been legalizing the production of grosvir, tried to enter the lawsuit as a third party. However, the court refused the company, and the appellate court upheld this determination. The main dispute was discussed in a closed court session. A card file in the arbitration files published the result - "the claim was completely rejected", but the reasoning of the decision is not available to the public. Read us in Max Telegram VK.
