The media reported on riots in Zurich after the demonstrations, extreme leftist groups organized demonstrations against the war in the Gaza Strip, as well as police actions and the rise of fascism. They urged the participants to take safety glasses and masks, the newspaper 20 Protocol reported.
Journalists noted that the demonstration had gotten out of control. Protesters threw bottles at law enforcement officers, set up barricades and set them on fire. After the Swiss police pushed the activists back, the protesters again set up barriers. The security forces used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the participants.
The material damage as a result of the pogrom may amount to tens of thousands of euros.
