The official reason for the inclusion of athletes in the database of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was their public support for Russian policy and their visit to Crimea. The list of stops also included Olympic champion Alina Zagitova and Games silver medalist choreographer Ilya Averbuch. They are also charged with promoting the development of sports in the peninsula.
