The Gamalia Center reported the possibility of sexual transmission of the Zika virus, it is only able to pass from a man to a woman. If infected during pregnancy, there is a risk of complications. Anatoly Altstein, chief researcher at the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamlia, spoke about this in a conversation with the "Moscow Speaks" radio station. A virus from the flavivirus family. It is transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Ades. The clinic, at first glance, is simple: the temperature rises, a headache, then a rash breaks out in large spots, and after a few days everything passes peacefully. The virus is considered harmless in terms of mortality or disability. But it turned out that the virus is able to penetrate the placenta and infect the fetus, so it poses a danger to pregnant women. There is evidence that it can be sexually transmitted. Moreover, it is interesting that - an amplifier for a woman, but not the other way around. Many such cases have been described. But the main threat of the virus is damage to the fetus. It can lead to the death of the fetus and deformity of the child, so this virus is taken into account. There were repeated cases of importation in Russia, but it did not take root. There is no reason to panic yet: this infection is imported. There is no vaccine against the infection.
