The "Wall Street Journal" reported that the Houthis in Yemen, in response to Saudi efforts to reach a peace agreement, demanded to receive compensation of 51 billion dollars and to recognize them as the rulers of Yemen.
This newspaper reported on Thursday, November 5, citing people with knowledge of the news, that the Houthis, with the support of the Islamic Republic, demanded this amount for the damages caused by the Saudi airstrikes and the blockade in Yemen.
🔸 This request was raised in a situation where the Houthis have escalated their attacks on oil facilities, airports and shipping lanes in Saudi Arabia.
They have also captured parts of Yemen in recent weeks and have come within 80 kilometers of Aden, the seat of the internationally recognized government of Yemen.
The "Wall Street Journal" writes that Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, does not want to enter into negotiations without having a superior military position, but even military options are associated with serious risks.
