Peruvian authorities discovered and confiscated more than three thousand tarantulas, which were hidden in socks inside the luggage of two German citizens and a Polish citizen.
Peru's National Forestry and Wildlife Organization announced on Wednesday, November 4 that these tarantulas were discovered in three suitcases after receiving an anonymous report.
According to the authorities, the tarantulas in various stages of development, from eggs to babies and adults, were hidden in dozens of socks. These species are popular with collectors because of their color and size.
🔸 Three foreign citizens were identified and arrested while delivering cargo for a flight to Germany, and they are now being prosecuted for environmental crimes.
