Many supermarkets and food stores in at least 8 EU countries witnessed disruption that appeared to be the result of a cyber attack.
On Monday, November 2, the European Union called and condemned the incident as "a deliberate attempt to disrupt the food chain of this bloc".
Supermarkets in countries such as Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Estonia and Portugal were affected by this event and during the night leading up to Monday, the temperature of their refrigerators rose abnormally. An issue that led to many food items becoming rotten and inedible.
Three weeks ago, a cyber attack on French supermarkets caused many problems for shop owners and consumers.
No person or group has yet accepted responsibility for the incident in France, or for today's incident in other European countries.
Christoph Hansen, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food of the European Union, while expressing deep concern about "repeated cyber-attacks", emphasized that this political bloc took these events "very seriously".
