Abbas Irakchi, Iran's foreign minister, says that Tehran sees no need to meet with American officials at the moment and will decide on direct or indirect negotiations only after Washington agrees to the Islamic Republic's terms.
In an interview with Al Jazeera on Saturday, November 9, he described America's efforts to expand the scope of dialogue and understanding as a "positive step", but Tehran's terms are clear and mediators are still discussing them.
Iran's foreign minister confirmed that a delegation was sent to Doha to continue negotiations and said that the cancellation of the sanctions imposed after the Islamabad agreement, the reduction of American forces in the region, the release of blocked assets and the recognition of the new shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz are among Tehran's conditions.
Abbas Iraqichi also confirmed that the letter of Jeddy Vance, the vice president of the United States, was reviewed in the high-level meetings of the Islamic Republic.
