Toshisuke Kanazawa, a 90-year-old Japanese bodybuilder, traveled to Spain to participate in the bodybuilding competition for adults in the over-50 age group.
Like his younger competitors, he practiced with his team and spray tanned his skin before taking the stage.
Kanazawa says he wants to continue to challenge the boundaries and show that age should not be a barrier to participating in competitions.
He credits his health and longevity to a traditional Japanese diet that includes brown rice, natto (a traditional food made from fermented soybeans), and miso soup; A diet that he says kept him away from the disease for decades.
Although Kanazawa did not place in the top three in the competition, he feels proud of his achievement and hopes to inspire others to stay active, push themselves and challenge themselves as they age.
