President of the United States Donald Trump said that "soon" a meeting will be held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
On Wednesday, November 6, Trump told reporters: "There will be a meeting soon and I think a lot of progress can be made."
He did not give details about the possible time and place of this meeting.
These statements come as the US government has stepped up its diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, which has entered its fifth year.
Zelensky said on Sunday that a tripartite meeting will be held in November with representatives of Ukraine, America and Russia to resume the stalled peace negotiations.
The Kremlin has previously announced plans to hold such a meeting in the United Arab Emirates.
