A member of the Tehran city council strongly criticized the cutting down of dead trees in forest parks and said that the city managers have not been able to deal with the drying of Chitgar trees for at least 40 months, and the trees were destroyed, and now they are being cut down mercilessly, and any action at the moment is a "panacea after the death of Sohrab". On Tuesday, November 5, Nasser Amani emphasized, referring to the transfer of the Chitgar, Suraksar and Shi'an forest parks to the Tehran Municipality in recent decades: "The maintenance of these parks should not have been entrusted to municipal areas." Criticizing the delay in identifying and monitoring the status of Chitgar trees, Amani said: “About 60 months have passed since this municipal management period. Why do we have to understand the dimensions of this disaster only in the last 20 months? He also pointed to the statistic of around 30,000 trees that were damaged and added: "If no one is willing to apologize to the people, I will apologize to the people for destroying the two great lungs of Tehran." Naki Shabanian, deputy forester of Tehran's Gardens and Urban Parks Organization, said that "about 41 percent of the trees [in Chitgar] are completely dry and 28 percent are in critical condition."
