Following the Qatari delegation's trip to Iran on Sunday, the New York Times reported, citing two diplomats, that Qatar is working on an agreement between the US and Iran, according to which the two sides will make concessions to each other over a five-day period in the areas of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the blockade and nuclear weapons.
According to this report, published on Monday, October 26, according to unnamed diplomats, the proposed agreement includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran in exchange for the lifting of the US naval blockade.
These diplomats told the New York Times that the main obstacle in the way of this agreement is determining the timing for concessions from each of the two sides. They also said that the mediators are trying to convince Iran to make concessions regarding its nuclear program in the first phase of the agreement. Radio Freda was unable to independently confirm this report, and the New York Times did not provide further details on the matter.
🔸 Ismail Baqaei, spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, confirmed the visit of the Qatari mediators to Tehran on Monday.
