The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad rejected the statements of the advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq about the smuggling of drugs and counterfeit currency through the Chadaba border crossing and demanded an official response from the Iraqi authorities.
On Saturday, November 2, the Iranian Embassy announced in a statement that the statements of Abdul Amir Tayban, an adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister, regarding the reason for the closure of the al-Shib border crossing on the Iraqi side of the Chadaba border, are "false claims."
In this statement it was said that the embassy expects the Iraqi officials to take a stand against the statements that harm the relations between the countries.
🔸Abd al-Amir Tayban said on Wednesday, 30 Mahar, the al-Shayib crossing was closed to prevent the entry of drugs and counterfeit dinar and dollar bills into the southern provinces of Iraq.
He described these measures as "more dangerous than missiles" and said that they involved out-of-control groups and businessmen on the Iranian side of the border. The adviser to the Prime Minister of Iraq also emphasized that the closing of this crossing has nothing to do with American pressure or the blockade of Iran, and that other border crossings between the two countries are still active.
