A 40% increase in mobile and landline internet rates in Iran; Expensive services and limited access.

🔸 Two companies and Irancell, increased their call, SMS and internet packages by up to 40%.

These two major cell phone operators in Iran have announced that these rates will increase from the first Friday of November; A decision that puts more pressure on the living costs of the citizens in Iran under conditions of severe inflation and extensive restrictions on access to the global Internet.

🔸 The IRNA news agency reported that the price increase was made with the approval of the responsible institutions and includes the fixed internet rate in addition to mobile phone services.

🔸Hamrah Aul and Irancell cited the "increasing costs of equipment supply, maintenance and development of communication infrastructure" as the reason for the rate increase.

These companies claim that "increasing income" is necessary to maintain the quality of services and develop the network, but it is still unclear what effect the price increase will have on the quality and speed of the Internet. Hamid Fathi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Head of the Regulatory Organization for Radio Communications, said earlier that the operators first demanded a 100% increase in rates.

🔸 According to the operator's announcement, Internet packages purchased before the implementation of the new prices will be usable until the end of the volume or their validity period under the previous conditions.
