More than a month after the closing and opening of the border crossings between Iran and Iraq, the Iraqi government issued an order to close the Al-Shayib border crossing, the equivalent of Chadhabah in Iran, on Wednesday, October 21.

The Al-Jazeera news network quoted an Iraqi source as saying that this action was taken on the direct orders of Ali al-Zaidi, the Iraqi Prime Minister.

However, the Iraqi government has not issued any official statements about this and the reason for this action is unclear.

Al Jazeera also reported that the closure of this crossing "will be complemented by the gradual closure of several other land borders over the coming days."

According to this order, "until further notice" neither people nor cargo vehicles will have the right to pass through this crossing.

This news comes after the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Salami announced on Saturday, October 17, after the publication of reports about the suspension of the commercial activity of transit between Iran and Pakistan, that "border traffic and transactions between Iran and Pakistan have been temporarily suspended." 🔸 Ismail Bakai cited "technical problems and the need to take precautions" as the reason for this without specifying any further details.
