🔸 Gina Romero, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Liberation of Bayan and the Gathering, announced that on Tuesday, October 21, she will go on hunger strike in solidarity with the "No Execution Tuesdays" campaign in Iran.

The "No Execution on Tuesdays" campaign was started in February 1402 in Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj by 10 political prisoners incarcerated in this prison, among them Ahmadreza Hari, a human rights activist who was recently awarded the "Defenders of the Front Line" award in 2026 for his activities.

🔸 The goal of the "Tuesdays Against Execution" campaign, which was joined by hundreds of prisoners in 56 prisons across the country, is to intercept the death penalty and oppose it as an inhumane and irreparable punishment.

Last week, this campaign reached its 141st week, on the eve of the World Day Against the Death Penalty, which corresponds to October 10. Now, Gina Romero, one of the UN's special correspondents, emphasizes in a video message that was also published on Channel X, that she therefore joins this campaign because in Iran "the death penalty is applied to those who want to enjoy freedom of expression and assembly and their political rights."
