Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, announced on Sunday October 19th in brief statements that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop attacks on each other's energy infrastructure.
He wrote on the Truth Social social network: "From now on there is a ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine in the field of energy. Both sides have agreed. Do not violate it!"
Trump did not provide further details about this agreement.
An hour later, Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said in an interview with the Axios news website that he did not know about the ceasefire announced by Donald Trump.
At the same time he added that if Moscow agrees to such a ceasefire, Kiev will also accept it.
The president of Ukraine then announced that Russia had targeted Ukrainian power plants after Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire.
Russia has not yet ratified the agreement on such a ceasefire. These developments come as deadly attacks have increased during the war.
