The acclaimed documentary "Revolutionary Exercises" by Pega Ahangarni has been selected as Great Britain's representative to participate in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 99th Academy Awards.
🔸 This film was selected by a committee consisting of members and representatives of the film section of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television.
The selection of the film does not mean a final nomination, and after reviewing the nominated works, the Oscar Academy announces the short list and then the finalists for the awards.
"Exercises for the Revolution" was shown for the first time in the special screenings section of the Cannes Film Festival 2026 in France and won the "Golden Eye" award for the best documentary film of the festival.
In this film Pega Ahangarani tells his life and more than four decades of Iran's history through five portraits of his relatives and teachers, using photos and home videos and historical films from the last five decades.
