Houchang Azizi, head of the Tabriz football club, says the team's players had to endure about 18 hours of overland and air travel to reach Oman to play against their Qatari rival in the AFC Champions League.
According to a video published in Iranian media on Saturday, October 18, Azizi announced that the team flew from Tabriz to Najaf and then traveled overland to Baghdad to reach Muscat, the capital of Oman.
First and second-tier Iranian teams in the Asian football league have been forced to host their opponents in third countries due to the outbreak of war and Iran's security conditions. For this reason, Tractor introduced Oman as the host of its home matches to the Asian Football Confederation. On the other hand, due to the initiation of sanctions on Iranian flights by the US and their implementation by some regional countries since the beginning of October this year, the Tractor team was not allowed to fly directly to Oman, and for this reason, members of the Tractor team were forced to travel to Oman from Iraq.
