Following the armed attacks on Iranian security and law enforcement officers in the southeastern regions, Iranian media reported that the head of the preventive police of Faryab city in Kerman province was killed by gunmen on Thursday evening, October 16. The Information Center of the Kerman Police Command announced that the attackers shot the policeman after stopping his vehicle. In this center's announcement, the terrorists were introduced and it was said that "the process of identifying, chasing and arresting them" is on the agenda of the police. The IRNA news agency, citing Governor Fariab, announced the name of the slain officer as Mehdi Jamshidi and his rank as Major. This was the fourth armed attack in a 24-hour period from Wednesday evening to Thursday in various cities in southeastern Iran. Earlier there were attacks in the cities of Gulshan, Zahadan and Nishahar in the province of Sistan and Balochistan.
