Iraqi: We are examining the American perspective; Salami: We will not give up enrichment
Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, announced on Thursday, October 16, that negotiations between Iran and the United States to end the war are still ongoing. At the same time, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran emphasized that Tehran does not intend to give up uranium enrichment.
In an interview with reporters in Tehran, Iran's Foreign Minister said: "The negotiation process is ongoing and messages are being exchanged through intermediaries."
Regarding the future of these negotiations, he added: "We presented our plan, called the seven-day plan, and heard the views of the Americans regarding it; we are currently examining them; I think we will respond within a few days." In recent weeks, Tehran and Washington have exchanged proposals to end the war that began on March 9 of last year with US attacks and Israeli captivity and the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but fundamental disagreements still remain between the two sides regarding the scope of the negotiations and the nuclear issue.
🔸 Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on October 12 that Tehran is going to convey "complementary points" regarding the American proposals through intermediaries, but emphasized once again that the focus of the Islamic Republic at the current stage is on the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran is not currently on its nuclear negotiations.
