The spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition confirmed that the Houthis launched a ground attack on Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, with a ballistic missile on Wednesday morning, October 15, but said the missile was intercepted and shot down north of the city.
Earlier, Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Houthis, reported on the drone and ground missile attack by this Iran-backed group on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
Agence France-Presse reported, based on data from flight tracking websites, that the airspace of King Khalid Airport in Riyadh was temporarily closed several times, but Saudi authorities did not comment on the ground attack on this airport.
However, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced on Tuesday that at least three people were injured in attacks on the airports of Jizan and Najran near the Yemen border. On Wednesday, the Houthis also announced the targeting of Aden International Airport with ballistic missiles and new missile and drone attacks on Abha Airport and King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.
Saudi Arabia is the main supporter of the legitimate government of Yemen and is responsible for the air support of the joint operation of government forces.
