A ground attack on an oil tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz left 12 injured
🔸India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday, March 14, that 12 crew members of the Panama-flagged oil tanker "An Peace" were injured after an unknown projectile hit the vessel while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Oman stated that it assisted in evacuating the injured from this ground attack.
On Monday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center announced that an oil tanker was hit in a ground attack while passing through the area, and its engine room caught fire as a result of this incident, but it did not release the name of the ship.
On Tuesday, this center reported three incidents involving ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement: "With the assistance of Omani authorities, the injured crew was evacuated from the oil tanker and is receiving medical treatment in the city of Khasab, Oman."
The ministry said that 11 of the 12 injured crew members are Indian nationals, and a total of 19 people were on board this oil tanker. Hong Kong-based Anglo-Eastern Tanker Management, the manager of the tanker, and Onex Dimacy, its operator, did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
Data from analytics firm Kpler shows this tanker was last seen unloading fuel oil in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates on August 26; at the time, its tracking transponder was turned off.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Communications of the Armed Forces of Oman announced that the country carried out a medical evacuation operation for 10 crew members of the Panama-flagged oil tanker "An Peace", which was subjected to a ground attack near Oman.
