The Federal Prosecutor's Office in Germany announced that August Hanning, former head of the country's foreign intelligence organization, was arrested on charges of paying money in exchange for confidential information to prepare a report for the foreign service.

The German prosecutor's statement did not mention the name and country of this foreign intelligence service. However, the German language newspaper Zoddeutsche wrote that this case has nothing to do with Russia.

Henning was the head of the foreign intelligence agency, Banda, until 2005, and five years after he retired, he paid a former director of the organization to obtain information.

This former manager, whose name is abbreviated as "Manfred D," was arrested on Tuesday, October 14, at the same time as Henning.

According to the information available on this case, Manfred provided Henning with approximately 2,000 documents from the German spy agency over the years. According to the Reuters news agency, August Hanning used these documents to prepare an analytical report for another intelligence agency.
