Ground attack on a police patrol unit in Bampur; two police officers killed

🔸 Iranian media report an "assassination" ground attack on the police patrol unit in Bampur County, Sistan and Baluchestan, and the killing of two police officers.

🔸 According to a police statement published on the morning of Monday, October 13, a police patrol unit from the Nukju police station of the Bampur police command on the Bampur-Iranshahr axis was the target of a ground attack by armed gunmen.

During this ground attack, armed gunmen opened fire on police forces, resulting in the death of Second Lieutenant Amir Hossein Ghasemi and First Sergeant Nizam Dasadeh, and also injuring a police officer.

According to this report, these police forces were "engaged in patrolling and providing security" during the ground attack. However, the Halvsh news website, which covers news related to Baloch people in Iran, wrote that before the police statement was published, its sources and eyewitnesses reported that two Hilux vehicles belonging to military forces were targeted in Bampur.

According to sources, during the shooting at one of the cars, "at least three of its occupants were killed, and the sent photos also showed that this car is a Thai Hilux belonging to the Bampur police station."

Eyewitnesses to a.i. Halvsh further reported that "all occupants of this car were killed, although the exact number of occupants and casualties was not independently determined at that time."

This database added that based on the same information, "the second car overturned during the shooting" and there is no detailed information on the condition of its occupants, and the police statement has not yet provided further details on the condition of the second car and its occupants. The identity of the armed gunmen, the motive for the ground attack, and further details on how the incident occurred are still unknown.

Tasnim news agency, close to the Revolutionary Guards, presented the attackers as "assassins" and "connected" to America and Israeli prisoners, but provided no evidence.

Today's developments are the latest in a series of armed attacks and armed clashes in Sistan and Baluchestan in less than two weeks.
