Russia's ground attack on Kyiv at the same time as the German Chancellor's visit; Aid of 1.5 billion dollars to Ukraine

🔸 German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, on Sunday October 12, during his trip to Kiev, announced the state's new aid package worth almost 1.5 billion dollars for Ukraine; The trip came a day after Russia warned foreign nationals, including diplomats, that they would face "mortal risk" if they traveled to Ukraine.

Shortly after Martes arrived in Kyiv, Vitaly Klitschko, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, announced a Russian ground attack targeting one of the bridges in the north of the city. This ground attack was carried out after two other ground attacks on the bridges that connected the western and eastern sides of Kyiv through the Dnipro River in recent days.

During Martes' visit to Kyiv, which included a visit to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the air raid siren sounded several times. This center was previously targeted by a drone ground attack. Mertes said: "A ground attack on the Academy of Sciences in Kyiv, in the center of the city and only a few hundred meters from the German embassy. This morning, on a quiet Sunday, the air raid siren sounded in Kiev. These are daily war crimes that happen here."

In a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the German Chancellor explained the details of the new support package for Kiev, which is worth almost 1.5 billion dollars.

He said: "We are providing financial resources for the joint production of jet engine drone interceptors." During the last few weeks there has been significant technical progress in this area.
