Said the interview with the foreign minister of Iraq; "We are against war and we do not want to be part of the Iran-US war"
The consequences of the Iran-US war affected the entire region, and in the meantime, Fouad Hussein, Iraq's foreign minister, in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberation in Washington, says that his country is facing increasing economic and security pressures caused by this war.
During this war, Iraq was the target of a ground attack, and the disruption of the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz also affected the country's oil exports. At the same time, Baghdad fears that the continuation of the conflict between Iran and the US will make Iraq more involved in the war.
Fouad Hussein says Baghdad wants the United States and Iran to return to negotiations and is ready to facilitate talks if both sides ask Iraq. He also described the end of the US military mission in Iraq as a "new chapter" in the administration of Iraq and at the same time emphasized that the departure of the Americans does not mean a change in policy or relations between the two countries and that both sides intend to strengthen their relations.
