The strike of French high school students spread to other regions of the country on Thursday, October 9.
Students are protesting overcrowding in classrooms, lack of teachers and limited and dilapidated facilities, and on Thursday fires were lit in some streets and in front of many schools.
On this day, nearly 340 demonstrations were held and more than 160 high schools were closed. In Paris and Marseille, students also joined the interceptions.
Since the start of this round of interceptions last week, hundreds of students between the ages of 15-18 have been detained.
The French government called these interceptions "social violence" and Prime Minister Sebastien LeCorneau demanded that all cabinet members postpone all non-essential travel.
Interceptions began in schools in the suburbs of Paris and gradually spread to other regions of France. The government accused far-left politicians of aiding these interceptions.
