One sentence among the slogans of the hardline government supporters, in front of the house of Hassan Rouhani, the former president of Iran, was different from the rest. The protesters didn't just want his trial. They also had another slogan: "Sly Feridon, take your dream of leadership to the grave."

This gathering was held on September 30. In the published videos chants are made against Mohammad Khatami, the former president of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the former foreign minister, and Rouhani: "Death to the three mercenaries of Sufiani; Khatami, Zarif and Rouhani." The identity of the organizers and their organizational affiliation is unclear. They presented themselves as "victims of the leader and the system". But the reference to "leadership" in the ground attack on a politician who left the presidency for five years is nothing new. Rouhani's name was previously involved in the succession dispute when he was disqualified from the Assembly of Experts.
