Bessent also emphasized the importance of advancing key reforms in Lebanon's financial sector to rebuild confidence in the country's banking system.

On Thursday, September 19, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against groups of individuals and companies accused of providing financial, weapons, and logistical support to Kata'ib Hezbollah in Iraq and Hezbollah in Lebanon, two groups supported by the Islamic Republic.

This action was carried out as part of Washington's new operation called "Economic Exclusion" against financial networks related to Iran.
