Donald Trump says the United States set a new record for oil production from the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced on Sunday, March 5th, that the country has removed unprecedented amounts of oil from the Strait of Hormuz, even more than before the start of the war with Iran.

Before leaving the White House for Illinois to attend the Presidents Cup golf tournament, he told reporters: "We are getting massive amounts of oil out (of the Strait of Hormuz). Last night we set a new record for oil leaving the strait. More than the amount we exported before the war."

He did not mention the exact amount of oil transported through this vital waterway.

Last week, the CENTCOM commander announced that in recent months, the US military has helped one billion barrels of oil from Persian Gulf countries, excluding Iran, pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

On Sunday, the US President also predicted that the war with Iran will end "soon" and said that after the end of the conflicts, the price of oil will drop. He announced: "As soon as Iran surrenders, as soon as the war ends, which will be soon, the price of oil will drop drastically."

🔸 World oil prices fell by two percent on Friday amid rising hopes for a ceasefire between Iran and the US. However, on Saturday, Trump rejected Iran's proposal for a new agreement and the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz; a decision that could lead to rising oil prices when markets open on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Fars news agency, close to the Revolutionary Guards, claimed that the military forces of the Islamic Republic attacked 12 "harmful ships" in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday night, the 7th, and the night before.
