Poland's financial incentives for establishing a permanent US base; $15,000 a year for every US soldier

Simultaneously with the progress of negotiations between Warsaw and Washington to establish a permanent US military base in the country, Poland has offered to pay $15,000 annually for each soldier and bear infrastructure costs in the event of a permanent deployment of US forces.

Paweł Zalewski, Poland's Deputy Minister of Defense, on Friday, October 3, in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Washington, said that negotiations with the Pentagon are currently focused on how to implement this plan, including the type of forces and capabilities needed and the possible location of their deployment.

Poland's Deputy Minister of Defense, in response to a question about who will pay this money, said: "Polish taxpayers."

America currently has thousands of troops in Poland, but most of them are in the country on a rotational basis. Poland has also become one of NATO's most important operational hubs on the eastern flank of the alliance.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced on September 26 that "great progress" has been made in establishing a US military base in Poland, and if the agreement is finalized, its location will be announced soon.
