On Saturday, D. Mahar, the communications office of the Iraqi Prime Minister announced that Baghdad is in "direct dialogue" with Washington to allow the resumption of some Iranian flights for humanitarian purposes, including treatment, education and pilgrimage.

The Iraqi government did not specify which airports it requested to be exempted.

🔸 The flight of the Iranian airlines to Baghdad was suspended as of October 1. Two days later, on October 3, Najaf airport also stopped Iranian flights, and then Erbil and Sulaimani airports in the Kurdistan region of Iraq also joined this restriction.

Thus, Iranian flights were stopped to all four airports in Iraq that were owned by Iranian airlines. On September 17, the US Treasury Department added to the list of sanctions all Iranian airlines that were not sanctioned and warned that foreign companies that provide services to them will be subject to sanctions.
