The Saudi-led coalition says the country's air defense intercepted and destroyed four Houthi drones and missiles targeting Riyadh and southwestern Saudi Arabia on Saturday, October 4.

According to the spokesman of this coalition, two drones were fired at the Riyadh area and two ballistic missiles were fired at Hamis Mosheit. A city in the southwest of Saudi Arabia where an air base is located.

A member of the Houthi politburo described these attacks as "a small-scale exercise for a full-scale escalation."

The Secretary General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the attacks on Saturday and called them "a clear violation of Saudi sovereignty" and a threat to the security of citizens and the stability of the region.

🔸 Iran-backed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have increased since July and after the collapse of the long-standing ceasefire. The Houthis also attacked Saudi oil tankers and captured parts of Yemen's coast in the Red Sea.
