Pressure against China's support for Iran increased as Trump and Xi met

American lawmakers and national security experts have called for stricter treatment by the Donald Trump administration against Chinese companies and institutions they accuse of providing satellite information and weapons parts to Iran and helping secure the Islamic Republic's oil revenues.

These pressures increased on Thursday, October 2, at the same time as Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the White House and his meeting with Donald Trump.

Gene Shaheen, a New Hampshire senator and the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, along with 18 other Democratic senators, accused Trump of not holding Xi Jinping accountable for the alleged support of Chinese companies in Iran.

The White House has yet to publicly say whether Trump made these claims in his private conversations with Xi.
