China's official news agency Xinhua says Xi Jinping asked Iran and the United States to resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiation as soon as possible.

Reuters, quoting knowledgeable sources, reported that in talks prior to Xi Jinping's visit, China offered cooperation in putting pressure on Iran in response to a possible US concession in the area of arms sales to Taiwan. This offer was not officially approved by Beijing.
