A US federal judge ordered on Thursday that the US government immediately allow CNN, Politico and Amazon access to the White House.

🔸 President Donald Trump announced last Friday that the access of these media outlets to the White House is prohibited as punishment for publishing what he called "fake news" and "stories and lies."

🔸 CNN, Politco and Amas Nav filed a complaint to the court against this decision. In a joint complaint, they considered this order a violation of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and demanded that the judge revoke their ban by granting a preliminary injunction.

🔸 Judge Timothy in his ruling considered the cancellation of press licenses "probably a violation of the legal rights" of the banned media.

"The general rule is that individuals must be given notice and an opportunity to be heard before the government deprives them of constitutionally protected interests," he wrote in his ruling. The US government says the purpose of this ban is only to fight fake news and the White House "has not launched a ground attack on the free press".
