In recent years, cutting off the SIM card has become one of the tools of pressure on visitors and civil activists in Iran; An action whose consequences are not limited to disconnecting calls and the Internet, and may disrupt people's access to banking services, insurance, government services and even judicial notices.

Gulshan Fathi, a civil activist and lawyer living in Tehran, tells Farda Radio that his SIM card was blocked and at the same time legal cases were filed against him in the SANA system, the judicial authority's electronic messaging system.
