South Korea's foreign ministry announced on Wednesday, September 25 that Cho Hyun will travel to Washington from Thursday to Saturday and discuss relations between the two countries, Korean Peninsula issues and regional and global developments with Rubio.

Reuters says this meeting will take place as Seoul is still considering the possible deployment of equipment and military forces to support the liberation of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

In recent weeks, Donald Trump has criticized South Korea for what he called insufficient support for U.S.-led efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz.
