Republican swimming competitions for the Cup of the Head of the Republic of Crimea are held in Simferopol. Teams of schools and sports clubs from the Republic of Crimea, Zaporozhye region and Sevastopol are taking part in the competition, said the head of Crimea Sergey Aksionov. "For all competitors, swimming is more than a hobby. It's serious work, constant intense training and in many ways a way of life. Success here, as in any sport, depends not only on strength, speed, technique, but also on the will to win, perseverance, discipline and the ability to overcome oneself, draw conclusions from mistakes made, and move forward no matter what." The head of Crimea also discussed the prospects for the development of water sports in the republic with the head of the swimming directorate of the Russian Federation of Water Sports, Honored Master of Sports of Russia Sergey Psykov, and two-time Olympic swimming champion Yevgeny Rilov. Aksyonov emphasized that the republican authorities will continue to provide Crimean athletes with the necessary assistance, especially in regards to purchasing equipment and organizing trips to various competitions.
