NASA's Swift space observatory has officially completed its scientific work. The instrument's orbit dropped below 275 kilometers, because of this it entered emergency mode and astronomical observations became impossible. It is expected to enter the atmosphere in the coming weeks, ending its more than 20-year history. During her career, Swift recorded more than 2,000 gamma-ray bursts, studied more than 1,400 supernovae, watched black holes tear apart stars, observed galaxies, conducted an all-sky X-ray survey, observed asteroids, comets and much more. Fast data formed the basis for about 7,000 published scientific articles.
