Presence is one of the simplest and most complex spiritual practices.
You can spend years reading books on self-development, meditation, seeking answers from teachers, talking about acceptance, awareness and inner peace. And at the same time almost not be in your life.
The body is here, but the thoughts are already tomorrow. You're talking to a person, but you're replaying the previous conversation in your head. You walk down the street and mentally solve ten future problems. You eat and scroll on your phone at the same time. We are always somewhere else.
Attendance starts as soon as you return.
You don't need to do anything special. Just feel how you breathe. Pay attention to what is happening in the body. Hear the voices around you. Look at the person nearby now. feel the taste of the food. To see the sky, the trees, the light, the movement of the air.
Don't analyze the moment, don't appreciate it, don't try to make it "right". Just be in it.
And this is where the hard part begins. When you stop being constantly distracted, you begin to hear what used to be drowned in noise: anxiety, fatigue, loneliness, resentment, fear, dissatisfaction.
Therefore, presence is sometimes unpleasant. But that's why it's so important.
Because you can't really accept and change what you keep running away from.
Try at least 5 minutes today to change nothing in your life.
Don't scroll through the feed. Don't look for answers. Don't make plans.
Just sit back and be where you already are.
Maybe you don't always need a new answer. Sometimes you just need to finally hear what's already going on inside.
And this is where the conscious life begins.
