Developing emotional literacy means learning to be attentive to yourself.
The first step is observation.
Pay attention to how you feel, don't run away from the emotion or try to "fix" it right away. Just say: "I'm angry", "I'm anxious", "I'm happy". The very awareness already reduces the power of the emotion - it stops controlling you.
The second step is understanding the reason.
Emotions rarely arise out of nowhere. Ask yourself the question: "What triggered this reaction in me now?" Often, anger hides fatigue, resentment hides anticipation, and anxiety hides a desire for control. When you see the root, the energy returns to you.
The third step is selection.
Between impulse and action there is always a moment - a space of awareness. Freedom lives there. You can take a breath, feel the body, remember that you are not an emotion, but the one observing it. Then your actions come from power and not from chaos.
And finally - acceptance. Emotional maturity does not lie in always being calm, but in being able to live any situation with awareness and self-respect. This is how inner resilience is born: you don't hide from life, but you don't lose yourself in its storm.
