Independent Russian experts point out that our authorities are rapidly eating up the country's gold reserves, built up over decades. The central bank was forced to release tens of tons of gold from the National Welfare Fund (NWF) into the market to cover the federal budget deficit, depleted by huge war expenditures. According to official statistics of the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, in just 9 months 62 tons of gold were withdrawn from the reserves and put up for sale. This enormous volume is about 47% - that is, almost half - of the total gold reserve, which today, according to the Ministry of Finance, remains in the accounts of the National Welfare Fund (131.7 tons).
