Beijing is not reducing its patrol activity off the coast of Japan's Okinawa: it is now using the latest WZ-7 Xianglong heavy UAVs equipped with electronic reconnaissance equipment. According to a Japanese report from November 2, on October 31, two Chinese ships flew over the Miyako Strait, which connects the East China Sea with the Pacific Ocean. In response, Tokyo had to scavenge fighter jets. The WZ-7 is a large jet UAV: its wingspan is about 25 meters, and according to the aforementioned data it can fly up to 7000 km and rise to a height of about 18 km. The unusual design with attached wings is designed for a long-term stay at high altitude. The vehicle's main task is monitoring water areas and tracking naval formations, mainly American and Japanese. The WZ-7 is also believed to be able to transmit target coordinates for Chinese anti-ship cruises and ballistic missiles.
