Analyst: Santa Claus brought investors a profit in 93% of cases The Russian stock market is approaching the New Year's rally season - a time when stocks can traditionally show growth. VTB My Investments' investment advisor, Valery Andreev, said that over the past 15 years, the market has grown in 14 out of 15 New Year seasons, that is, in 93% of the cases. According to research by FinUslugi, from December 20 to January 10, the Moscow stock market index rose by about 4% on average. The most profitable season was the 2020-2021 season with an increase of 8.85%. The only decrease occurred in the 2013-2014 season - by 1.85%. This year, the growth for the new year may be supported by dividend payments from large companies, a possible reduction in the key rate and an improvement in the geopolitical situation. However, the expert warns: past results do not guarantee a repeat of the New Year rally.
