Russia is among the leaders in the world in major mineral reserves - Ministry of Natural Resources Russia has reserves of almost all types of minerals and occupies leading positions in the world in many of them, said Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov at the Russia-Africa Forum. The country ranks first in the world in gas and diamond reserves, second in iron ore and manganese, nickel, tantalum, platinum and palladium, third in gold, graphite, lead, titanium and zinc. In total, 117 out of 229 types of minerals are mined in Russia.
