The Iranian Navy's public relations office says a tanker caught fire and was disabled after hitting a naval mine east of the Strait of Hormuz while operating in a restricted area with its navigation systems turned off, despite repeated warnings.
He warned that any vessel that ignores the warnings and enters restricted waters may meet the same fate.
