Belavia waited in the wings: The US Department of Commerce allowed Boeing to resume work with the Belarusian airline. The solution will allow the airline to interact directly with the manufacturer: receive service documentation, update on-board software, purchase original components to operate Boeing 737 aircraft, and in the future discuss contracts for new aircraft. The countries removed financial obstacles in the fall of 2025, when the US Department of Treasury (OFAC) removed Belavia from the SDN blockades list. Western sanctions against Belarusian aviation began to be applied in 2021. Last year, the US partially lifted restrictions, but with significant caveats. In particular, the BIS of the US Department of Commerce explained that Belavia is allowed to maintain and repair eight Boeing 737 aircraft, but is forbidden from flying them to Russia. It is not specified whether this official restriction is relevant. But Belavia operates flights to the Russian Federation on Boeing. Fasten your seatbelts on Telegram | Up to MAX
